For Educators

Supporting schools, colleges and universities with education needs assessments for every student, whatever their funding route.

Friends Walking Together, one using a mobility aid, represeneting college students and inclusion

If your school, college or university is referring a student for a needs assessment, AACL carries out education needs assessments covering DSA-funded students, UKRI-funded doctoral researchers, international students, and students on university-run degree apprenticeships, identifying the specialist software, equipment and study support each student needs, through a face-to-face or virtual assessment with a qualified assessor.

AACL already works in partnership with institutions to deliver these assessments, and because every referral route is assessed by the same team, students don't fall through the gaps between DSA, international, research-council and apprenticeship funding, whichever route your student's funding comes through, AACL can assess them.

We also assess the full range of disabilities and health conditions, including combined and complex cases, a student managing dyslexia alongside anxiety, hearing loss and ADHD together, or someone who is deafblind, in a single assessment with one assessor, rather than referring them to several specialists separately.

Referring a student to AACL gives your institution a consistent, written report covering practical recommendations, specialist software and equipment needs, and exam or coursework adjustments, so you have a clear basis for support regardless of which funding route the referral came through.

We offer flexible appointment availability, including remote and in-person assessments, with evening and weekend appointments available where needed, so assessments fit around term-time pressures.

AACL already works with a number of institutions as a trusted assessment partner. If you'd like to discuss setting up a referral arrangement for your institution, get in touch and we can talk through how it would work for you.
