Assistive Technology Training and Coaching

Assistive technology can only make a meaningful difference when it is understood, embedded, and used with confidence. At Access Assessment Centres, we offer both focused Assistive Technology Training and ongoing Assistive Technology Coaching to ensure technology becomes a practical and sustainable part of everyday study or work.

Collaborative Office Work

Assistive Technology Training

Assistive Technology Training focuses on building technical competence in specific software or equipment.

These sessions are practical and structured, supporting individuals to:

  • Understand the features and functions of recommended software or hardware

  • Configure tools appropriately for their needs

  • Develop confidence in core tasks such as reading, writing, note taking, organisation, or communication

  • Troubleshoot common issues

Training is typically delivered over a defined number of sessions and is focused on learning how to use the technology effectively and independently.

This service is suitable when:

  • New software or equipment has been recommended

  • An individual requires structured instruction to build technical skills

  • A refresher session is needed

Assistive Technology Coaching

Assistive Technology Coaching goes beyond learning how the software works. It focuses on supporting the individual to integrate assistive technology into their real world study or work routines.

Coaching may include elements of training, but the emphasis is on application, consistency, and sustained use.

Sessions may support individuals to:

  • Embed assistive tools into everyday workflows

  • Overcome barriers to consistent use

  • Develop personalised strategies for organisation and productivity

  • Build confidence in using technology in live environments such as lectures or meetings

  • Reflect on what is working and adjust approaches over time

Coaching is typically more ongoing and responsive, adapting to changing demands across the academic year or workplace role.

This service is suitable when:

  • Technology has been recommended but is not being used consistently

  • An individual needs support applying tools in real situations

  • Confidence or executive functioning impacts effective use
